$20 members, $10 children; RSVP required
Members with a Core 2 or Premium 2 Membership will be allowed two tickets at the Member price of $20. Members with a Core 4 or Premium 4 Membership will be allowed four tickets at the Member price of $20. All other Member guests will need to utilize the regular guest price of $25. Members can bring as many children as they would like at $10 per child.

Old Town is home to some of the city’s most storied watering holes, such as Marge’s Still and Corcoran’s Grill & Pub. Join CHM assistant curator Julius L. Jones as he leads this walking tour of the neighborhood’s oldest taverns and bars. Participants must be 21+ and able to walk 1 mile total. Beverages are not included. Learn about the development of American Medina, which began as an oral history project, from its curator, Peter T. Alter. The celebration will include live music, food, drinks, and staff available in the exhibition to answer your questions.

Alter, CHM chief historian and director of the Studs Terkel Center of Oral History, for a members-only tour of American Medina, then travel by bus to the Sabeel Center in Des Plaines, Illinois, for a tour of America-to-Zanzibar: Exhibit of Muslim Cultures with its director, K. Rizwan Kadir. Discover why Chicago is often referred to as the American Medina and see how Muslim culture is experienced around the world, including in the US. Tour includes admission to both exhibitions and transportation to and from the Sabeel Center, where a light lunch will be served.
