AfricanAmerican migrants brought the blues to Chicago, using music to feel at home inunfamiliar, often inhospitable surroundings. Here, the sound was electrifiedand amplified, recorded and shared around the world. Discover the blues of1960s Chicago and its important cultural legacy through gallery exploration;analysis and discussion of the work of photographer Raeburn Flerlage; and ofcourse, the music itself. This seminar culminates with a trolley tour ofhistoric blues locations on May 5.
